Holiday Greetings

30 Jul Holiday Greetings

Greetings,

I am so happy to report the horse and carriage rides were a huge success.  The weather cooperated and the evening went off almost without a “hitch” literally!  The beautiful horses arrived but their carriage broke down nearby.  Once repaired and with minimal delay the horses were hitched to their carriage and the riders were trotting around town singing holiday tunes led by santa.  The sleigh bells and the trotting of the horses along with the lighted carriage created a very heartwarming scene.  More than 210 people came and enjoyed these rides that the LSBPA was proud to sponsor.  This was our gift to the community for the holidays and one that will be fondly remembered.

With sincere thanks to Hal Soden for his brilliant idea and effort to bring this to our town.  He did a great job and we were fortunate that he brought this special experience to Little Silver.  Many thanks to Erica Melone and Jay Cordaro for all their help and enthusiasm to bring this together.  They also had a long “to do” list and it all came together as planned…including the lightly falling snow they ordered that evening!

The event was made even more special by the donation of time and treats by many of our members.  Eileen Caruso from the Ye Olde Pie Shoppe brought cookies to delight those waiting in line and Lisa Karasic of Sickels Market added hot apple cider which the crowds loved!  Beth McLoone donated coupons to the McLoone’s Restaurants which was most appreciated.  Helpers such as Jo Ann Kulat and others kept things rolling forward smoothly.  Patricia Zachman was on hand to capture all the photographic memories!  The surprise Santa visit to entertain the children while waiting for the carriage rides made this the perfect outing for any age.  Our sincere thanks to the fire dept for use of the bay and their property and for the surprise santa that rode with us and led the groups in song!

Thanks to all the businesses that remained open to allow shoppers extra time to get through their holiday lists while enjoying more festive treats, store wide specials, and free gifts from participating merchants.

In addition, another surprise Santa was ready to welcome the carriage as it passed by Family Pharmacy.  Huge thanks to Matt Perisi and “Santa”…It doesn’t get better than this!

We are grateful for all the publicity we received which made all this possible.  The Monmouth Journal, The Red Hot Red Bank, and the Little Silver Newsletter along with the local schools that added us to their website announcements…we thank you!  Once again, Linda Naiman created the beautiful posters and flyers that were seen around town which helped so much.

I continually reflect on our dynamic group and all we accomplish together.  I feel so fortunate to have so many new friends because of this Association.

Again, my sincere thanks to you Hal, for taking this on and bringing this to all of us in Little Silver.  I’m sure I speak on behalf of the 210 or so members of the community that joined us that evening….it was incredible!

Thank you to “anyone” I missed!

Be sure to check out this week’s Monmouth Journal, The Hub, and Community News for the recap and photos they put on their front pages about our event!  They did a great job spreading our news!

Have a warm and wonderful holiday season and a New Year that is filled with all good memories!

See you at our next meeting on Wednesday January 12th 2011 at 8 AM.
